Flash Website

We haven’t decided on how to create out website yet, but if possible, I hope to use flash components on the website as they are more eye-catching and attractive. Most of the websites are using Flash now, so it’s not surprising that this idea came across my mind.

There are a lot of websites which offer Flash components and one of them is flashloaded.com. You can easily find lots of components here, ranging from 3D, menus, charts, navigation, sound and video and etc. If you are willing to give them a try, check out the freebies at the website. These flash components can be easily added to your website with little coding or none at all.

On top of that, most of the flash components are not too expensive, depending on which types you prefer. You can easily find out how much will each of them cost by just navigating through the menu. Personally, I like the interactive 3D wall which allows images to be shown on a curvature or flat wall. But I don’t think we need this component for our company’s website.

There are lots of flash website templates available too. Too bad I don’t know much about CSS or HTML, if not I might want to buy one and try it out.

Snacking In The Office

I stayed in the production line most of the time for my previous job, and I had to put on a head gear, a face mask and a bunny suit to go into the line. You can forget about drinking and eating in the production floor, and even cell phone is not allowed.

However, when I was working at SIL’s office in Bangkok, I noticed that the staffs have the tendency to snack a lot. There is a pantry for coffee and tea, so you bet most of them are getting a few cups of cuppa a day. Not to mention, there are always packets of junk food on the tables and they can eat them anytime they like as long as they are doing their work. Frankly, I tried my best to stay away from the snacks as sitting at the office all day long with junks in my mouth is not going to bring my anything good. I will have a big tummy sooner than I thought and by that time I might need to get lipovox to slim myself down.

Thus, I better have more discipline when it comes to snacking. I don’t mind having the coffee but you won’t find any junks on my table!

Books On Learning Thai

We bought a few books about Thai language, and after going through a few of them, I personally think that these 2 are the best.

The first book is Thai for Beginners that emphasizes on speaking, listening, reading and writing. I only go through the speaking and listening part and yet to learn about the Thai alphabet. It’s really complicated to me, and I think I won’t be able to pick up the reading part so soon. The CD helps a lot, but still, it’s best if you can speak to someone in Thai to master the language.

The other book is actually a dictionary called Benjawan Thai-English. I bring it around during our stay in Bangkok and it’s truly helpful. It’s easier to communicate with the Thais with this dictionary around, and we can understand each other better too.

If you are traveling to Thailand soon, you might want to get these books.

Brazilian Sugar

Everyone around me keeps telling me that the price of rice, sugar and some other commodities are increasing. I don’t pay much attention about stuffs like this normally as I hardly buy grocery, but since we are staying on our own later, I better take note of the charges of prices so that we can better plan our monthly budget.

I only realized now that Brazil is the largest producing nation of sugar. The Brazilian Sugar Prices can easily fluctuate the world sugar price, just like what happened in year 2002 where the price dropped due to high level of production. If you are looking for sugar resources, you might want to check out the sugar prices offered by www.briangreens.com. Since sugar is a controlled commodity in our country, I don’t think anyone can just import the sugar.

Nonetheless, this site provides some information about the prices and grades of Brazilian sugar. If you are interested to know more about it, check out the link.

Server Down

I was in the midst of publishing my post and my server was down for a while. I really hate it when the server is down when I need to blog, but there’s nothing much I can do about it except waiting and waiting. I’m still thinking if I should set up the company website with my webhost since I don’t want things like this to happen frequently. It’s business, unlike personal blogs, traffic and customers count.

There’s nothing wrong with his service and as the matter of fact, he has been very helpful in helping me since the day I bought my first domain. It’s the server. I really hate the down time!

But I won’t go back to private hosting now considering that I’m not blogging seriously. I still have other options in building the company website. Let’s see what other webmasters have to offer.

Make Use Of Credit Cards

My new credit card arrived yesterday but I was not around to accept it. I made a call this morning and the postal company will send it to me again. I still have other credit cards with me, so there is no urgent in receiving my replacement card.

As the matter of fact, I’m thinking of getting a new credit card later once we settle down in our new home. It will be more convenient to pay the monthly payment as well as enjoying some special discounts at most of the shopping outlets. For a vivid shopper like me, I do take note of the special offers provided by my credit cards and make good use of them. Don’t just use your card as a way of buying stuffs which you can’t afford to pay in cash, but make full use of its advantage.

If you are looking for a credit card, I would suggest that you hop over to see best credit offers listed on the link. Go for credit cards that suit your needs and even if you have a bad credit, you can still apply for credit cards with terms and conditions applied. Frankly, I’m more interested with credit cards for frequent flyer since we are traveling more this year. I certainly hope that we can get some discount or reward point redemption for flight tickets.

But of course, the online application is only applicable for most residents of US except Puerto Rico, Saipan, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. So if you are staying in the same land as me, you can’t apply.

Wearing Watches

Both hubby and I don’t wear watches. I stopped wearing since I got pregnant while hubby thinks it’s too troublesome to have something on his wrist he has to take off for golf!

However, I think it looks more professional if you are wearing the right watch to work. Most of the time, it shows that you are a timely person and you are always reminded of punctuality. So, if you don’t wear watches, maybe you can think about getting one of the omega watches. I would love to have one too if I can afford one now! Most of the designs I like are expensive, so unless I’m willing to pay for the price, if not I don’t think I will ever have one on my wrist!

Besides that, check out the latest design of Omega Speedmaster 5-Counter Chronograph with the five Olympic rings and specially designed for Beijing Olympic Games 2008. It is not of the collective items not to be missed if you can afford to have one.

If you are eager to know more about the latest news of Omega watches, check out the link provided above. You will be updated about the special and latest designs of Omega watches, and you can also join in the discussion at the forums.

So, are you interested in getting one? I think I will just dig out my old watches from my drawers. Frankly, I’m not sure if I will wear them either. I’m not used to putting on a watch anymore, but I’m very punctual, ok?

Searching For A Company Name

We have done most of the preparation and now we have to think of a new name of the division of the company. It’s best to have it separated from BIL’s existing company since the operation and products are totally different. It would be easier to manage the accounts and capital too.

The thing is, most of the names we come out with sound good in English, but the pronunciation in Thai sounds weird. We are trying to find a name which sounds like a technology company but easy for the Thai to remember. Anyway, we are still brainstorming about this and once it’s confirmed, it would be easier to proceed with the company logo and website. I’m still thinking about setting it up by ourselves or ask the webmaster to do so. It’s SEO that we are clueless about, so if we are willing to pay, I think it would be much better.

So, let’s see what will we come out with.

Smoking At Workplace

I’m doing my study at hubby’s office most of the time now and it’s like my second home in Bangkok. Like all working places, there are rules meant to be followed, like when or where to smoke for the smokers. I’ve just come back from a smokey toilet where a stupid worker smoked in the toilet, and he didn’t feel bad about doing so. I just hate it when someone smokes in the toilet! If there’s a bottle on the wine rack, I really felt like bumping one onto his head!

There’s a smoking area in my previous company where I worked at and I tried myself not to pass by the room. To me, it’s stink. I hate the smell and I don’t want to be a passive smoker.

Since we don’t have a smoking room here, it’s best if the smokers can do it elsewhere but not indoor. It might be a pleasure to them but not to other non-smokers like me.

Credit Card Fraud

I thought of going shopping later today and get more stuffs for myself, but yesterday morning, I received a call from the bank that my credit card was misused for an online transaction. They have no choice but to stop the transaction and cancel my card. Gee…I have some credit in there which I meant for shopping but I can’t use it anymore. The new card will be sent back home and I can only use it once I go back next week.

I still have other credit cards though, so I guess I can still shop around.
