Hosting in Own Domains is Expensive?
Lots of mommies like me didn’t start bloggging to earn money initially. Most of us blog about our kids, our life, and some home cooking (not not me! :P). It’s a coincidence that I stumpled upon blogging for money. I have never thought that I would earn a cent from blogging last time.
I started out with blogger, and with only one blog. I started monetizing it by the end of November 2006. Then I started another one with blogger before I bought my first domain. The reason why I did so was there were rumours that most paid posts companies prefer to have bloggers with own domains. I see blogging for money as a potential for me to work from home, and thus I saved up the money in my Paypal and used it to get domain. Currently, I have 3 domains.
However, there are still lots of bloggers who refused to do so. They think that it’s a lot of money buying domains, which I totally agree. But if you start in any business, you will still need to come out with the capital. When I first started mine, I used thousands of ringgit to set up my first centre. And getting domains are way much lesser than that!
If you have your own domains, you can write for Blog to Profit. Besides, if you have domains, and good traffic, there are more opps for you at PayPerpost. I have only one domain that writes better for PPP as it’s a PR4. Even if you have a domain, but if PR0 and a high Alexa score, you won’t good much at PPP. Thus, I think traffic is everything.
Nonetheless, it’s still an advantage to host your own domains. Even if I stop writing paid posts one day (opps, not sure when will this be), I will still keep all my domains. My blogs are still my blogs.

I totally agree with you. I bought my own domain for http://mymanythoughts.com , It costed me about 80 dollars including hosting for a year. After a single month I have already earned more than 80 dollars, so it is not expensive at all.
