All these months, I have been focusing a lot on writing paid posts to make a living, and I have ignored the part of building good traffic. I’ve stopped reading most of the personal blogs or parenting blogs that I used to visit, and use my limited time to read more about making money blogs that are more informative.

One of the articles, The Secret Handbook On Driving Blog Traffic, listed out a few good points of how to build traffic to your site by link baiting. But what really caught my attention is this:

Blog Comments, I would highly suggest keeping blog comments off on your blog until your traffic starts building up, and you get more rss subscribers. Once you check your site statistics, and see your traffic getting very high then turn them on. Reason I say to keep them off is because a lot of bloggers check out the comments to see how popular the blog is, and if they don’t think its very popular you will be quite surprised how many bloggers don’t subscribe to your rss feed, or come back just because of something so odd.

Now, this is definitely one of my biggest mistake. I don’t switch off my comments, and during the early days of blogging, seeing the pathetic number of comments on the blogs can be really discouraging and frustrating. So, if I set up a new blog next time, I may take his advice.
