One of my relatives passed away 2 weeks ago, but I didn’t go back. The funeral was held on a week day, so it’s impossible for hubby to drive us back to Kedah. I felt quite bad about it, but my mum said she would represent us, so we didn’t have to attend.

If only I know about sympathy gift baskets earlier, than maybe we would just send one to them. Frankly, most of us Chinese will just give money, but not gifts. Maybe the culture is different, and so far I haven’t heard from anyone giving gifts at funeral. But the idea is good for those that can’t make it to the funeral due to their own reasons.
