Hubby is away for a few days again, and he’s not managing his office for some time. Before I have my second child, I would help him out at the office occasionally, but I can’t do so anymore. We don’t have a lot of staffs since it’s just a warehouse, and hubby will be running most of the operation by himself.

I think maybe he needs a business management software to better track his business process, even if he’s not around. The Forturo can help him to keep track of customer quotes, product order, inventory management as well as invoicing. Even if he’s not at the office, he can still access to the database as Forturo has built in remote hosting capability, so he can get the real time information no matter where he is.

Thus, I think I would be able to help him out too since I’m working from home. As long as the product order forms being faxed to my home, I can help him out by processing them and preparing the invoices by entering the appropriate data into the system. I guess it’s a good software that we should be considering.

Let me talk to hubby about this when he’s back. He’s the one who makes all the decision when it comes to his business.

I consider myself very unlucky when my PC got infected with some adware some time ago. I couldn’t see any Google Ads on all the sites I visited and the ads were being replaced by only one dating site which had half naked pictures of men and women. I was so angry about it because my kids wanted to see their blog but I couldn’t let them see it because I didn’t want them to look at those inappropriate pictures.

Thus, I have since then installed some anti spyware softwares in my PC and laptop, and I even bought 2 softwares for them. If you are wondering which one to choose, just check out Internet Security for the comparisons for parental controls, virus protection, firewall blocking, antispyware programs and others.

Just get one for your PC, and as a parent, I think parental control is needed. I don’t want my kids to be “corrupted” at such a young age.

When I was working in engineering, we had a lot of meetings in a week. Most of the meetings were about pilot runs or production data that engineers needed to take note off. Frankly, I hated it when I had to run from the production line to the meeting room a few blocks away and sometimes we had to wait outside because the room was still occupied. When you have urgent pilot run, you just don’t want to waste a single minute to get it done or watching the machine. You just can’t trust the technician or operator because the process parameters were not optimized.

Thus, I was quite annoyed if the meeting was not held on time. They should have a Scheduling Software to arrange the usage of meeting room or projectors. It’s a big semiconductor company, so they can afford a software!

Luckily, I am retired from engineering. It’s so good to quit a job just like that!

I have told him not to count of the conventional anti virus software which may not be effective in detecting spyware. I got a bad experience in this, even if my PC was installed with an anti virus software. So, maybe he should really think about getting NOD32, an all-in-one software to protect his laptop. There is a price to pay for, but comparing to threatened by spyware and the risk of losing the files, which are more important?

I can only see one Google Ads on all the sites I visit for the past 3 days. I guess my laptop is infected with some adware or spam ads again. As I thought the image spams are bad, now we have PDF spam. All these spammers are really “creative” and “innovative” huh? Where on earth did they find the time to do something like this? LOL!

But luckily, we are a few companies like BorderWare that are constantly alert to the attack vectors used by spammers. Thus, they can provide a better anti-spam solution.

Gee, should I get one for myself too? Not only big organization needs it, maybe a SOHO like mine needs one too.

I was very frustrated that my XP Home Premium was corrupted again. I called up the computer shops but most of them don’t work during the weekends, and asked me to get back to them on Monday. However, I don’t want to lose using my laptop during the weekdays when there will be more offers. Thus, I decided to upgrade to Vista or reformat the laptop by myself.

Bear in mind that I am a computer idiot. A simple CSS or HTML file can make me crawl up the wall and scream for help already. So, I told myself that things screwed up during the installation, I will just dumb the laptop and get a new one. LOL!

Before that, I called up Dell Support and they told me that they don’t support software. Good, that leaves me to no choice but to search for computer shop for help. Then, the guy from Dell told me that if I’m eager to reformat by myself, he could help me out, but it would take more than 2 hours over the phone. I had forgotten that I was calling a toll free, and I didn’t have 2 hours for it during the day. But he told me that I could check out www.windowsreinstall.com for more information.

So, at 2am last night, I decided to work this out by myself. I checked out the site given and with simple instruction and screenshots, it looked very easy to me. So, I just went for it! It took a few hours to get the installation done, but I didn’t sleep through it because my kids woke up a few times. So whenever my beauty sleep was disturbed, I checked on the installation. 3 hours later, I woke up and saw that it was ready.

I have been using my laptop a few times today, and so far so good. Everything seems to be working well, except some softwares which are needed to be upgraded since they are not compatible to Vista. So, why am I going back to Vista? Frankly, I am not sure. I have both the license for XP and Vista. So the desktop will be operating in XP and my laptop in Vista. Let’s see what’s the different and why are there so many fuss about Vista!

SPY SWEEPER IS THE MOST AWARD-WINNING ANTISPYWARE SOFTWARE

Well, I don’t have to repeat the case where my PC was badly affected by adware. During that 2 weeks, I was so miserable as whichever sites I visited, as long as there are Google Ads, I would only see some stupid porn ads or dating ads. Not to mention, with naked lady some more!!! Even my mailbox was also affected and no one dares to read my email!

I searched high and low for a few spyware online, and even paid for one that claimed was one of the best. Too bad, it couldn’t remove the adware! Just wasting my money only, and not to mention, it’s in USD!

But funnily, I came across Webroot Spy Sweeper and installed it. Yes, I got to pay another year of subscription fee, but it’s worth it. Since the scanning, the adware was being removed, and I scan my PC with it every alternate day. It’s really amazing that I don’t see the stupid ads anymore, but at each scanning, it manages to detect the cookie. No doubt, I got it removed everytime! Just how to block this stupid cookie thing?

So, coincidentally, I got this sponsored post about Webroot Spy Sweeper and I knew I got to blog about it. It’s really the best.

After 2 weeks since the day I got my Dell laptop, it’s only today that I can make full use of it. At first I thought of getting Vista since it’s the latest Windows and it would be fairly useful and effective. But the thing is, not all softwares can support Vista now. I sent my laptop to the computer shop and asked them to install some softwares for me. But most of them can’t work well with Vista, and I was so fed up with it.

So, in the end, I “dumped” my Vista away, and got myself Windows XP Home Premium for RM300, and installed the laptop with it. Now, my baby is finally working nicely! So, I have a new toy to play with lately, and I’m so busy with it.

The mystery is out, I’m infected with Vundu virus from this dating site called passion.com. So, go there at your own risk! Funny, I have never been to that site, and nor does hubby. But from the discussion here, seems like I got it from My Yahoo, or some site I refer when writing paid posts. Damn, it’s the 3rd time already, so I better install spyware in my laptop.

Most of the software downloaded will be able to scan my PC. but I got to pay for it before the cleaning up process. I’ve just paid USD29.90 for Spyware Doctor, so I’m not going to pay for other software anymore.

I choose to reformat my PC. Luckily, I did some back up this time, so I’m not that worried about losing information.

One of the reason why I refused to renew the contract of my franchise is I don’t see there cooperation from one centre to another, and even the support from HQ is very weak. Those complains that we made to HQ were not being followed up. The meetings conducted for all the centres were not being attended by all, and most of the time, only the active franchisers are doing all the promotion activities for the whole state.

Everything is about computer or online now. They should just use GroupWare, a collaboration software to work things out together. This software can be easily integrated with our emais and hosting accounts. Some of the benefits of the software are:

Easy administrative features to manage Groups, Users, Email Options, and Shared Folders – collaboration software and much more.

Personal and shared online Calendars

Schedule recurring team meetings and events

Keep Contacts private or share them in a Global Address Book

Manage Notes and Tasks and keep them organized in Lists

Publish one or more of your calendars to your web site so anybody can see it

Anytime and anywhere access with web interfaces for email and GroupWare features, or synch your data with your favorite Microsoft Outlook® email client*

Thus, with a collaboration software, I bet all of us will be working together as a team more efficiently. Too bad, some of us are dropped out from the team but there is still no action or anyone bother to talk to us about this! What a lousy franchise company’s management.
