One of my friends has gone to US recently, and she is trying to look for a job. I’m not sure if she has her green card, but it seems like she has some contacts with salon jobs and pays quite well, after the currency conversion. She has experience working at salons previously, so it should not be too hard for her to get a job. But nonetheless, it might help a lot if she has proper training from the beauty schools.

I hope that she’s doing well in US now even if I have lost touch with her. I should have asked for her contact, but sadly, I didn’t remember to do so…

Apa Politic?

I can only read the news online now and I am still following the news from Malaysia. Frankly, I wonder if how true is our politic scenario is as more hidden stories are being dug out from time to time. Seriously, can anyone really believe the news? Or we might as well forget about what the politicians have to say? I think I can just treat the news as gossip columns and read and laugh about them later. Siao meh, so chaotic wan…

But it might be the same as other countries too, politics are kind of craps sometimes. LOL!

How To Feed The Wives?

I’ve just read a news about a man from Kuala Terengganu who’s going to marry his fourth wife, but he is only making RM300o per month from odd jobs. Besides that, he has 18 children with his 3 wives! I seriously cannot see anything romantic about this and I can’t understand how love can survive on a hungry stomach.

I know that muslim can have 4 wives, and I respect their religion. But in current economy situation, I would surely let the money rule instead of following the heart. But then, the syariah court has not approved this man’s marriage yet. At least someone knows that it’s not going to be an easy happily ever after kind of marriage.

I don’t have any intention to further study in the near future, but if you are looking for school mba, check out the online courses available by Capella University. This online university has also created an Online Writing Center in helping the students in academic writings, so you might not have to pay to other writing companies to get your papers done!

It should be easier if the courses can be done online. Some friends of mine graduated from online degrees too, but they took a longer period of time to achieve their goals. As long as there is a will, there is a way.

Extended Lunch Hour

I don’t normally go out for lunch because it’s very sunny at noon and I don’t have a car. It’s quite inconvenient sometimes, but at least I have lesser shopping trips! Nonetheless, I really hope that I can just drive out sometimes for an extended lunch hour. Being confined in the office all day long can be pretty boring. Not to mention, I’m still taking care of my kids here, so it’s like working and being a mother all at the same time, and it’s so stressful. I really need to have some break to unwind myself, if not I can really scream. LOL!

I wonder if anyone in the office is going out later. I don’t mind accompanying someone to get the cell phone amplifiers at the shopping mall, at least I can feel the “fresh air” of the air conditioning at the mall! That is something I need on a stressful day.

The Going Gets Bad

Some people are complaining that the economy is really bad and it is getting harder to run a business. I’m truly aware of that especially we are starting all over now. But to some businesses, they don’t seem to be affected by the current situation, or maybe I’ve just missed it?

The situation is almost the same here, as comparing to our home town. But the spending power in Bangkok is still quite strong. I saw shoppers buying daily stuffs, pet supplies, clothes and accessories the same as before. But one of the restaurant owners told us that business has been pretty bad for the past 2 weeks. The patrons are getting lesser, even if the place used to be packed and all queued up by eager diners.

So have you cut down your spending lately? Or still spending as usual? My shopping trips are increasing, but only for food and grocery. As for my luxury spending, I can’t seem to find time for that. Signing up an expensive spa treatment will be a “sin” when the going gets bad huh?

No Car For A While

At first, we planned to get a new car as soon as our kids are moving here with us. But after some thoughts, we decided to postpone the plan until sometime later. For the time being, we can use the company car or BIL’s car, so it is not too inconvenient. But still, we are checking out the prices of some car models as well as how much will the car insurance costs.

Juggling with Kids and Work At Workplace

I love Bangkok because the food is great and shopping is a bliss in this busy city. But as for office life, I’m still trying hard to get used to it as I have to take care of my kids and do my work at the same time. It is different from working from home where my kids can be occupied with TV, more toys, freedom to wander around in the house and shout as loud as they can be. At the office, they have to follow “certain rules”, and it is not easy for everyone.

They may get the idea of not being able to be themselves, but as most kids, they will try to break the rules once in a while. That’s why I have to bribe them with snacks and junks occasionally. Everyone knows that it’s bad to do so, but I’m out of choice. If they continue to snack on junks, they might need some liver cleanse a few years later! I just have to think of a way of balancing my work and my kids………at the office!

Since my term life insurance coverage is not working fully when I’m out of country, I might get a family insurance plan here in Bangkok. We can’t do this until my kids have visas too. It’s simply not easy to get a work permit here, so everything is progressing slower than I thought.
